The Kite Runner – now that i believe it is the best novel ever published.

I’ve heard about this novel sort of ... 3 years back? Can’t remember when. Everyone was talking about this novel. GREAT was what they said. I tried to find one for my collection but to my frustration, it was expensive. so i didn’t buy it. Yes, i didn’t have income at that moment. still using the PTPTN. so to buy anything other than food and model cards - was a big decision i had to make. there were lot of books that i missed, actually. i always wanted to read full-series of shopaholic, harry potters, paul caulho's and everything; everything that has been listed as #1 best seller. and now, i'm catching up all the stories i wanted. i found a store where i can rent a book for only RM5, yey!

Back to Kite Runner.

i cried a thousand times over (picking Hassan's line) as i read this novel. the way Khaled Hosseini narrated the story seems lively. i can feel the dry and hot Afghanistan, the tranquility surrounds Hassan & Amir when they were sitting under the pomegranate trees; reading a story book to an illiterate Hassan. He did very well in elaborating every single details to a point which i came across that this must be a true story, happened to Khaled Hosseini.

Hassan and Amir made the most wonderful relationship i have ever imagined. the very pure little boy Hassan knows nothing but to protect Amir; serving as a loyal servant and regards himself as a friend of Amir. Every words from his mouth were as sweet as sugar. very polite.

and what makes me crying like mad was the time when Amir crying, remembering the words before everything between them changed;

'for you, a thousand times over.'

and few more lines. not few, MANY more. the letters from Hassan, the stories from Rahim Khan about Hassan's excitement to write Amir a letter when he started to know how to read and write, about him fixing The Wall of Wailing Corn as if waiting for Amir to comeback and, and.. ok,ok..couldn’t describe more, my eyes getting blurred by the tears.

Seriously, this is the best story. evolving during the peaceful Afghanistan till the invasion of Taliban. somehow, i was shocking to know about the Muslims life in Kabul, in this story. So sad but i'm pretty sure it was true.
